Although I've been a born and raised Dunkin Donuts drinker, I've recently had to hand over my coffee money to Starbucks. There's one located right across the street which makes for an easy coffee run at 5:30am.. oh wait not really 'easy' because by the time I get there at 5:24, they're not even OPEN YET! 5:30 marks the opening time of Starbucks where the bells ring and the choir sings in my head as the first thought of coffee runs through my mind. Today I was the VERY FIRST person to walk thru the doors and nothing has ever given me such pride. Of course I took a selfie picture of myself alone at 5:30, but that's besides the point.
Believe it or not, I found friends to go to bars with.. instead of sticking to my one woman wolf-pack. It's hard to find time to just 'hang' out at night because I know that no matter what time I get home..the alarm will still go off at 4:30am. (and 4:35am just incase I don't wake up to the first one)
Work so far has been SO much fun. It's a lot to memorize and I have so much more to learn. I recently completed an 18 hour online course (literally worse than an online college course for an entire semester)
Working such early hours definitely has its perks. I finish work around 4:30 pm. Since I'm not an old person, I can't just order free room service, take a bath and go to sleep. This is my free time to explore the wild ways of NYC. I walk around street after street like I was born and raised in NYC (which could either be a good or a bad thing) because when people as me for directions and I actually know how to get there my response is like 'yo betch how the eff did you not know that DUHHH you take the 6 train and transfer onto the M)' and then when I don't have the answer it's more like, (in a southern accent) 'I'm sorry y'all I just came hur for the weekend to see my cousins get married to each other'.
The dreaded apartment search is uhm.... coming along? I'm going on Thursday to view an apartment 50 blocks away that has everything I'd ever need (a bed and a shower) but for this price it'll be a sin if I didn't say yes right on the spot.
In other news, I'm 1 dollar richer (plus a few more since I just got paid for week one) I was aimlessly roaming the Avenues of America and lo and behold there is a dollar practically SCREAMING OUT BECKA! I awkardly find myself purposely bumping into good looking men in suits on their way home from work just to make some subtle eye contact... you know, laying down the ground work. Maybe if they walk by me everyday and boom I bump into them everyday.. they will either think I have a problem or be like woah whose that chick that has no sense of coordination. It's a constant give and take.
In more 'free' news, I received a free Build-A-Bear, Vera Bradley shopping bag, a Free People Scarf and a Free People iPhone case.. today is a GOOD day. I also am an official work-woman now because I am now the owner of my very own work-issued blackberry... get at me... (but not really because it's only for work)
